INDUSTRY NEWS
Mandatory Daylight Savings Update
Due to the change in the dates of the Day Light Savings, all Windows users will need to install an update
from Microsoft. We encourage all of our customers to learn more about this on the following link:

California Requirements
The State of California now requires that all companies performing deferred deposit transactions and/or check cashing
obtain the California State Deferred Deposit Transaction Survey Report and/or the Annual Reporting on Check Presenters
Who Cash $10,000 or More with a Check Casher export. Cashwise clients with an active support plan and who are currently
running versions 2.6, 3.4, 3.6, or 3.7 may contact technical support to obtain the necessary files and instructions for
the report and export.
FUTURE SOLUTIONS
Check 21
In the coming months Softwise will introduce the Check 21 module to its Cashwise software. Check 21 allows banks to accept check
images as Legal Replacement Documents for standard paper checks. With this new service you will be able to process checks electronically
using a scanned image of the check to deposit the funds directly into your account with 2-3 days of the transaction, rather than
physically depositing a paper check at your bank and waiting 7-10 days for funds to become available. If a check is bounced, you can
electronically re-deposit it up to two times without intervention, rather than having to take the physical paper check back to the bank
to re-deposit it.

Cashwise on Windows Vista
Softwise is dedicated to supporting the latest platforms and technologies.
For the most part, Cashwise already functions on Microsoft’s latest
operating system, Windows Vista; however, there are a few issues to beware of. The most significant known issue so far is that the installer does not work properly on Vista and so Cashwise must be manually installed.
Another alternative is to run Cashwise from a network share, as many do in multi-user environments. One more tip: under Windows Vista, if you receive an error stating “The publisher could not be verified,” when attempting to run a program,
right-click on the file, click Properties, General tab, and then click Unblock. In the coming months, Softwise will be working to resolve the installer issue, as well as any other issues that arise on Vista.
